Se necesitan medidas especiales para proteger a las personas en situaciones de vulnerabilidad elevada, incluidos los ni\u00f1os y las personas mayores. class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>En la tarde del 24 de junio de 2026, dos terremotos golpearon la regi\u00f3n norte de Venezuela, con magnitudes de 7,2 y 7,5. Los terremotos afectaron principalmente a estados densamente poblados, incluyendo La Guaira, Caracas, Carabobo, Falc\u00f3n, Aragua, Miranda y Yaracuy. Al 29 de junio, el presidente de la Asamblea Nacional, Jorge Rodr\u00edguez, declar\u00f3 que al menos 1.719 personas hab\u00edan muerto, 5.000 resultaron heridas y 15.000 hab\u00edan sido desplazadas de sus hogares. Cientos de bloques de apartamentos y otros edificios colapsaron o sufrieron da\u00f1os estructurales. Estas cifras se consideran ampliamente como insuficientes para reflejar plenamente la magnitud total del da\u00f1o humano y material causado por los terremotos, ya que se informa que miles siguen desaparecidos y contin\u00faan ocurriendo r\u00e9plicas.<\/p><p>El 25 de junio, Amnist\u00eda Internacional emiti\u00f3 un comunicado de prensa alertando sobre el devastador impacto que estos terremotos probablemente tendr\u00edan en la poblaci\u00f3n de Venezuela, tras una emergencia humanitaria compleja que ha durado una d\u00e9cada y una pol\u00edtica sistem\u00e1tica de represi\u00f3n y, de manera cr\u00edtica, un sistema de salud colapsado. En este sentido, la organizaci\u00f3n se\u00f1al\u00f3 que \u201cel acceso a la informaci\u00f3n, la libertad de prensa y la libertad de expresi\u00f3n han sido severamente restringidos como resultado de a\u00f1os de censura patrocinada por el Estado, incluyendo el cierre de docenas de medios de comunicaci\u00f3n, el bloqueo de plataformas de redes sociales como X, y la criminalizaci\u00f3n de periodistas y defensores de derechos humanos. En el contexto de la actual emergencia humanitaria, la organizaci\u00f3n enfatiza la importancia cr\u00edtica de levantar de manera inmediata todas las restricciones indebidas sobre la prensa, las plataformas de redes sociales y los canales esenciales de comunicaci\u00f3n en l\u00ednea. El impacto potencial de no hacerlo podr\u00eda medirse en vidas perdidas y derechos irreparablemente afectados&#8221;. En respuesta a los informes p\u00fablicos sobre las continuas restricciones y la censura del trabajo de los periodistas en el terreno, este llamamiento sigue siendo fundamental para un plan de respuesta humanitaria efectivo y basado en los derechos.\u00a0<\/p><p>Adem\u00e1s, Amnist\u00eda Internacional declar\u00f3 que \u201clas ONG de derechos humanos y humanitarias est\u00e1n operando actualmente en un entorno sumamente restrictivo como resultado de una arquitectura legal represiva orientada a cerrar el espacio c\u00edvico y a atacar cualquier forma de disidencia percibida. Para ofrecer un plan de respuesta de ayuda eficaz, las autoridades venezolanas deben derogar de inmediato la llamada Ley Antiong y todos los dem\u00e1s mecanismos legales que restrinjan, controlen y limiten las actividades l\u00edcitas y necesarias de estas organizaciones de la sociedad civil.\u201d Este llamado se ha vuelto a\u00fan m\u00e1s urgente para asistir a aquellos grupos m\u00e1s vulnerables a la discriminaci\u00f3n y la marginaci\u00f3n, a saber, los ni\u00f1os y las personas mayores.
